PreRequisites
·
Windows Server 2008 R2
o
Ensure the Computer Account is a member of the Local
Administrators group
·
SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 CU6
o
Ensure Named Pipes are enabled on the Database
Active Directory Setup
·
Create an AD group called SCCM Site Servers
·
Add the SCCM Server to the SCCM Site Servers Group
·
Give SCCM Site Servers Full control over the System\Systems
Management Folder in the ADUC
o
If the Folder does not exist then give Full Control to your SCCM Server
Computer account to the System Folder and then after the install go back to
Step 3
Install dotNet 3.5 Feature
- Log on to the server on which you plan to install WSUS 3.0 SP2 by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.

Select .Net Framework 3.5.1 Features

Click Add Required Role Services
§
Click Next
§
Click Next

Click Next

Click Install
§
Click Close
Install Remote Differential Compression Feature
- Log on to the server on which you plan to install WSUS 3.0 SP2 by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, click Server Manager.

Select Remote Differential Compression

Click Next

Click Install

WSUS 3.0 SP2
- Log on to the server on which you plan to install WSUS 3.0 SP2 by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.
- In the right side pane of the Server Manager window, if Windows Server Update Services is not listed in the Roles Summary section, click Add Roles.

- Specify a location

- Select Use an existing database server on this computer
- Click Next
- Connecting to SQL Server Instance

- Web Site Selection
- Select Create a Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2 Web site
- Click Next
- Ready to Install Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- Windows Server Update Services Configuration Wizard
- Click Cancel
Install BITS Feature
- Log on to the server on which you plan to install WSUS 3.0 SP2 by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, click Server Manager.
